While the world talks about stress, we like to focus on the common source of our stress… noise. And thus, the importance of Quieting the Noise.
But what is noise?
In engineering speak, we often talk about signal to noise ratio. This simply means, what is serving us (the signal) and where are we losing effectiveness (the noise). This is an important concept to apply to our lives.
In every aspect of our lives, family, friends, career, service, etc, where’s the noise? The friction?
Could it be difficult relationships. Maybe it’s stress at work. Or even not feeling like we’re living the life we’re supposed to.
All this noise builds and accumulates over time. At some point it transitions from imperceivable anxiety to unmistakable and often times debilitating stress.
That’s why awareness of this noise is the start of taking control over our well-being. We need to do the work. We need to create space to be more attuned to how we feel about the different aspects of our lives. It is only with this awareness that we can nudge ourselves to a better place.
Where’s your noise? What’s the one area you can nudge in a better direction this week? It truly is about one small step after another. We’re all exactly where we need to be. The question is where do we go next?
And when in doubt…
Pause. Breathe, And Quiet the NOISE.
